Quickly Deactivate Apps that Impact Startup

We have discussed in another article the impact that startup apps can have on your computer and its performance. In that article we discussed how you could use Task Manager to see which tasks and apps impact your startup performance. The impacts from these startup apps don't end once your computer completes its startup process. Even if they are running in the background, these apps use system resources such as memory. To minimize the impact of these apps, you can follow the information provided in the article referenced earlier or through this simple method:

  1. Press the Windows key and type (without quotes) "Startup Apps", then press Enter. Windows displays the Startups section of the Settings Window.
  2. In the drop-down list next to "Sort by," choose "Start-up Impact."
  3. Turn the app off that you no longer want to run at startup.
  4. Close the Settings window. Your changes will take effect the next time you start up your computer.

This simple process can help improve your startup times and reduce possible impacts on your system resources.
